Each Shepherd is assigned a number St. Margaret’s parishioners (the number fluctuates depending on the number of Shepherds), their “sheep”.
Shepherds are responsible for introducing themselves to the Parishioners to whom they have been assigned.
Engaging regularly with assigned Parishioners is an important Shepherd activity. Touching base with Parishioners is necessarily broad; it can be as simple as speaking intentionally at church, dropping a card or note in the email, sending an email or text, or calling on the phone. The purpose of the engagement is to convey that St. Margaret’s cares.
At least quarterly, the Shepherd will want to engage formally with their assigned Parishioner. By formal, it is meant that the Shepherd will reach out intentionally to their assigned Parishioners and ask them three questions:
How are things going?
Is there anything for which they would like St. Margaret’s to pray?
Is there anything you would like to share with the Vestry?
