The Blessing of the Animals

We celebrated together on Sunday, October 2, 2022, the Blessing of the Animals and enjoyed the company of our pets in our service. We enjoyed seeing and hearing them wander and greet other people and pets and it was an incredible bonding moment for all who attended this service. I especially enjoyed seeing Rev. Jo-Ann greet and bless each pet during the service. The joy was evident on everyone’s faces, even our pet’s! We were reminded of what a blessing these animals are for all of us and that God has blessed us with them to keep us aware of His love, grace and joy.

It was wonderful to hear the litany of thanks for animals in the cycle of earth. We were reminded of the animals that occupy this world with us, the wild ones, the ones that provide us food, transportation (Mary and Jesus), and for our pets who have crossed over to the rainbow bridge. We were reminded of Saint Francis’ ministry on earth and his words of comfort that God will provide what is needed if we trust in Him.

I was especially grateful for the **generosity of our church in providing pet supplies** for our **Prince William Animal Shelter** and for the animals who are sheltered there. The staff at the Animal Shelter were **very grateful for the donations** and the love we have for our animals. **Thank you for your generosity and for your love of all God’s creatures!**
